Gower is proud to be supporting the Sunrise Walk of Hope once again in 2026, standing alongside Guernsey Mind to raise awareness around suicide and support those who have lost someone.
Taking place on Sunday 21 June 2026, this year’s walk falls on the summer solstice — the longest day of the year — offering a particularly meaningful moment to come together in reflection, remembrance and hope.
The walk will begin at 4am at Vale Castle, inviting islanders to gather ahead of sunrise and share a powerful start to the day.
Now in its sixth year, the Sunrise Walk of Hope continues to grow, bringing more people together each year. It has become an important event for starting conversations, challenging stigma and shining a light on the vital work of Guernsey Mind in suicide prevention and care.
A reflective route at sunrise
The gentle 5km route follows the east coast from Vale Castle to the Bathing Pools. Open to all ages, the walk is not a race, but a space to walk at your own pace, reflect and remember.
Setting off just before sunrise on the summer solstice makes this an especially poignant experience, as participants come together to mark both the longest day of the year and a shared commitment to hope and support within our community.
We are very grateful to support this important event once again, and to Vive La Vallette for kindly providing refreshments at the finish.
