More than 850 people came together in the early hours of Sunday morning to take part in the Gower Sunrise Walk of Hope, raising awareness of the important work carried out by Guernsey Mind in supporting those affected by suicide.
Setting off at 4am from Vale Castle, participants followed the 6km route along Guernsey's east coast to the Bathing Pools, where refreshments awaited them at the finish.
This year's walk took place on the summer solstice, making the event even more special. Walkers were rewarded with a beautiful sunrise as they made their way along the coast, providing a fitting backdrop to a morning centred on reflection, remembrance and hope.
Now in its sixth year, the Sunrise Walk of Hope continues to grow, with more members of the community coming together to support Guernsey Mind and help raise awareness around suicide prevention. The event offers a space for individuals, families and friends to remember loved ones, support one another and encourage important conversations.
As a proud sponsor of the event, Gower was delighted to see such a strong turnout from across the island.
We would like to thank everyone who took part, as well as the volunteers, organisers and supporters who helped make the event such a success. We are also grateful to Guernsey Mind for the vital work they do throughout the year supporting those affected by suicide and promoting mental wellbeing in our community.
The Sunrise Walk of Hope continues to demonstrate the power of community, compassion and connection, and we are proud to play a part in supporting this important event.
